To add onto prior post re: substances, memory & clarity, here is what I learned, when earning Master's in Therapy, about TRAUMA RECALL & PAST LIVES.
First, I never "believed" in past lives, when talked about. It made no sense to me, until I saw it for myself, over & over, in hundreds of patients. Second, I also didn't "understand" spirit world, from American Culture. I did believe to "each his own". I also believed, "heaven & hell", is what we live, Right Here Right Now. I further believed - don't take offense please, that people confused alegory & mythology, with what was intended for story form, history, and education, with other things (as you know, people who have an agenda, twist things). Now, about people's faiths, if it's not a cult, nor terrorist group, then most faiths, have validity, and good for you.
Here's the thing with Trauma Recall & Past Lives:
#1 I have NEVER met a person, who when in hypnosis, did NOT want to go into their trauma.
I was "against" hypnotherapist practitioners, who did not have at least SOME medical training, because they didn't have the same guidelines in Ethics nor Consent.
You're supposed to ask the patient, if its okay to look at the memory. Then if it's okay to feel it, yes or no. Okay to see it, hear it, etc. OK to re-experience it, or if they want some distance, i.e. movie-screen.
ALL patients, WANTED to go into it. Once they were in Theta, w/ Safe Frames set-up, they ALL had entirely different relationships to the traumatic event & people who caused it. The end result, was a PROFOUND RELAXATION & DEEP HEALING. They returned to Beta, completely transformed. They believed it was intended, necessary. They found acceptance of it, which removed the emotional charge for them. It was more than miraculous. I saw this, over and over and over, throughout my clinical training. (Where Hypnosis was an add-on to Applied Behaviorism & Counseling.) I went to the most expensive school in the world at the time, because I wanted to learn from the best, including my classmates. The students there, I was more than amazed by. They were incredibly accomplished, MFT's PhD's, MD's. Just to sit in a room with them all & soak it up. WOW.
#2 We cannot heal, if we don't remember. I am against, all substances, that impair memory. Stop numbing. People numb for a reason, but it's when we go through things in a supportive container, that we feel light.
I'm lucky to have been around healthy people throughout my life. The majority of any "suffering" I felt, was actually Compassion Fatigue.
(Which is why I prefer Taxes, over Therapy, even though I have a master's and am legally allowed to practice in some states.)
Be healthy everyone. And if you need a referrall, feel free to ask. I know excellent therapist and hypnotherapist former classmates and colleagues, that I trust very much, as well as phenomenal MD's who helped me with high-dose nutrition and sports performance training.
